BYOF - Street Training Adventure
Sat 24 Feb to Sat 24 Feb
You are never too old to play!
Join artist Lottie Child on an adventure through your streets. Climb trees, walk on walls, swing on bike racks, play hopscotch on the paving - Slough town centre will be your playground!
Adults and children alike will explore the streets with spontaneity and playfulness in mind, discover new things about ourselves, each other and the places we go.
Play has been designed out of most urban spaces and these playful strategies can be seen as survival skills that explore notions of risk taking and playfulness on the city streets.
Children must accompanied by an adult, any age children are welcome and remain the full responsibility of their parent/carer at all times. Both child and accompanying adult need to book a place each.
Meet at the reception desk in The Curve, and then the Street Training will take place outside The Curve and along the High Street.
The Street Training session is part of a wider day of events for 'Bring Your Own Future' the finale of the HOME Slough commission by artists Close and Remote. More details on the project here - http://www.bringyourownfuture.net
About Lottie Child
Lottie Child is an artist and educator from Dorking in Surrey. She is fascinated by the ways joy and playfulness can shape our lives and our world. By learning from and alongside children she seeks to highlight and intervene in structures of power so as to explore possibilities for different ways of sensing, moving and living.
She is the founder of Street Training an international network of people actively shaping their environments and behaviours with safety and joy. Her practice is one of participatory performance in public space using spontaneous interaction and learning.
