WATERCOLOUR AND VIRTUAL REALITY COURSE

'Bring Your Own Future' is a project by artists Sophie Mellor and Simon Poulter (Close and Remote) and has been commissioned by HOME Slough . Working with local residents we will explore new ways of looking at Slough using watercolours and virtual reality.

Are you a budding watercolourist? Or perhaps you're drawn to Virtual Reality? What happens when we put both those mediums together? Come along to this FREE course and you will find out! You don't need experience of watercolours or virtual reality to get involved, but we also welcome those who do. The course is for adults. Teenagers over the age of 13 years old can also attend, but those between the ages of 13 and 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult. There are limited places and they will go fast!

What can you expect from the course? The workshops will be run on Monday evenings, 6-8pm, at various venues in the town centre. All materials will be provided and the workshops are free.

There are seven workshops in total, and there will be a couple of ‘guerrilla’ watercolour events where we’ll take our easels out and about in Slough. You will learn some basic watercolour techniques and go on to paint your own new ways of seeing Slough, including, should you wish to, a 360 degree watercolour of a Slough scene. We will then take the watercolour and painting techniques into virtual reality using, for example, Google Tilt brush to actually paint in a virtual 3D environment using HTC Vive (VR headset). The course/project will culminate in an event and exhibition in January 2018, presenting the work we've made during the course and works by Close and Remote.
