WHAT'S ON

Pathways and Tracks

The Gallery @ The Curve

Fri 10 Mar to Fri 31 Mar

Slough artist John Baker-Brown's exhibition, Pathways and Tracks - Impressions of local landscapes, will be on in The Gallery @ The Curve for the month of March.

John has lived in Slough for 40 years where he was a middle school teacher, now retired.

Some years ago, during a difficult stressful period he relaxed by talking long walks in the countryside. Especially ay Avebury stone circle, along the ancient Ridgeway Path and closer to home in Burnham Beeches. Finding these places restorative, the atmospheric light, sunrises and the sense of being ‘in touch’ with the natural world inspired him to attempt to capture this experience in oil paintings and oil-pastel sketches.

Much of this work remained un-shown for years but recently, now retired and finding more time he has taken up painting again. He was inspired to exhibit by the recent opening of The Curve and being a local artist he wanted to put his earlier work on display and receive much valued feedback.

John is currently working in oils on canvas, a traditional medium which he finds suits his current interest in figure and portrait studies and he plans to exhibit this recent work in the near future.

The Gallery is open all throughtout the day with the exception of when it has been booked for meetings. If the door is open however, head on in.
